I always used to think that what I think now--the ideas I have now, as a teenager--are pretty irrelevant to what I will do or think for the rest of my life, but in fact I see now that whet I think and do now may indeed have a significant effect on my life, in the way that the initial case in a random process of evolution does--not so much on the specific details of my life in the future so much as they create the context of those details, and, after all, what are details without context but meaningless?
